About
We are a well established club after being formed way back in 1941.
We are a friendly community based rugby club in Derby who are always on the look out for players, coaches and other volunteer support.
Club membership is not restricted to Rolls-Royce employees and we welcome all standards of player.
Our 1st team plays in an official RFU league and cup competitions around the East Midlands area, as well as friendlies against local clubs.
Our mini and junior section is growing and beginning to thrive since its launch in 2020. We currently run under 7s to under 11s age groups and welcome all children and parents to come and give rugby a try and see what the club has to offer.
Men's Rugby
We offer adult rugby to all. Our 1st team plays in an official RFU league, Midlands 4 East (North) and cup competitions around the East Midlands area, as well as playing friendlies against local clubs. We have real ambition to continue the improvement and build further on past success – whilst both enjoying the rugby and the social aspect of the game. We also have various 2XV friendly fixtures throughout the season.
We have a number of players also of the age to create Vets rugby which we are keen to get going. Come and talk to us if you are interested in getting back to rugby in a social capacity, did someone say ‘half time rum’?
We are always on the lookout for new players! We welcome players of all shapes and sizes, ability, ages and experience – and membership is NOT RESTRICTED TO ROLLS-ROYCE EMPLOYEES!
Mini and Junior
Rolls-Royce RFC aspire for a thriving mini and junior section within the rugby club to provide an opportunity for all children in the local community to engage in Rugby to develop important skills aligned to the rugby values – Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship.
This season, we will be operating the following age groups:

Under 7s – for children within school years 1 and 2

Under 8s – for children within school year 3

Under 9s – for children within school year 4

Under 10s – for children within school year 5

Under 11s – for children within school year 6
From time to time, we will mix age groups for the benefit of the whole group, in these cases, children’s safety and wellbeing will be prioritised and in line with their capabilities.
The mini and junior sections are open to all children within the age ranges that we cater for, and you DO NOT need to be an employee of Rolls-Royce. Groups can be a mix of boys and girls up to under 11 age groups and rugby played in under 7 and under 8 age groups is non-contact tag rugby only. Contact rugby will be slowly introduced in the under 9 age group at a pace that is suitable for the experience of the player. Safety of the children is our number one priority.
The main objective of mini and junior rugby is to uphold the rugby values and, most importantly, allow children to make friends, learn new skills, stay active and have fun! For any children, in Reception class or below at the start of the season, the club also host RRuggerz that runs on Sunday mornings at the club.
Mixed Rugby Fitness
We recently launched a fun rugby fitness session which runs on Sunday Mornings at the club. These start at 11:30am and are free of charge. Feel free to come down and give this a go, its a great way to have fun, meet new people and help improve fitness.
16 Years +, all genders and abilities welcome!
RRuggerz - 3-5 Year Olds
We now offer sessions for 3 to 5 years olds to come and get involved in Rugby. These sessions are based around play and are completely age appropriate. It is a chance for children and parents alike to come and enjoy the club and start to get a taste of what rugby life can offer.
These fun, structured and coach led sessions are completely focussed on ensuring a fun and engaging environment whilst teaching basic hand to eye coordination skills such as catching, passing, running and finding space, at the same time focussing on Teamwork and many of the other rugby values which is a great introduction to the sport but also a great opportunity for children to develop new skills.
These sessions can be enjoyed as part on normal club membership and provides all the membership perks on offer.
